It is important that “the community” be defined in the context of the OCSC’s vision and mission.  For the purposes of our sector designation, the OCSC considers the public, or citizens as the “community”.  From individuals to groups of all kinds, the community is made up of those citizens not otherwise designated by a business, nonprofit, or any other formal legal, organizational entity.  In addition, all citizens can and should be considered a member of the community when not otherwise affirming their organizational affiliations.

The community is impacted by and will benefit or be affected by the actions and decisions of academia, business, government, and nonprofits.  The OCSC has the ability to inform the community on the mission, sustainability initiatives, and vision of the organizations in the region.  The OCSC can also play the role of organizing citizens and the community towards benefiting the sustainable achievement of local organizations.
